20 - let's auction mademoiselle

Does anyone have $40 million to lend me? I will hopefully pay back within the century...
This field on the picture, is on sale ladies and gentlemen! Created in 1890 by Van Gogh, Sotheby's of NY receives the correspondences these days.

Is it tragic or what for an artist to suffer when living and never know how far his/her art will earn popularity (or demand). If the earth was the right place for our ambitions then Van Gogh should wake up only to throw his works to the heads of people around and withdraw all his art from the celebrated museums of Metropolitan, d'Orsay and even the one named after him, Van Gogh. These artists should outrage with all the rightfulness of destroying one's own work! Why?

Unacknowledged poets, authors of rediscovered books and musicians who never tasted the colossal respect for their music should join him. Art! If it's the heart of mankind, the price of ruined artisan lives is very ironic, isn't it? To me such an equation is not any different from the sacrifice practices of ancient civilizations. If the artist has nothing to gain from it, when others will earn so much, art as a gift is just a curse.

Vincent, having started painting at the age of 26, tried to make a living on it... He hardly sold his paintings...

Ignorance of masses (and individuals as well) is second to none as seen in the picture.

Or simply, art belongs to the spectator only.
